Due process is the spine of development. Career has levels which they link with one another. Career survives on these levels. The absence of one of the levels will dent the growth and success of career development. Let's look into the levels one after the other.
1. Academic level
2. Personality level
3. Parental support level
4. Tertiary-societal level
5. Future level
ACADEMIC LEVEL
Career grows on the pedestal of good academic level. As a student, the academic performance in the school determines the choice and passion for a career. It all starts from the first day at school. The interest level for learning and reading contributes to career development.
Let's go through this acid test for evaluation and improvement on your academic performance.
o Do you go to school with strong passion to learn?
o Do you have favourite subjects?
o Do you have ugliest subjects and why?
o Do you have interest in your subjects' teachers?
o Do you see beyond classroom as you learn under your teacher?
o Do you teach other students some subjects you know very well?
o Do you score above average in some subjects?
o How many hours do you spend per day on reading?
o Does your assimilation last for months or days on each subject?
o Do you struggle to pick point when you read alone or you love general reading?
o Are you habitual in reading?
o Do you have time for co-curricular readings?
o How often do you visit library for research?
o Do you experiment what you learn daily from the classroom?
o Do you have access to current and essential books for studying?
o How effective and smart are you on time management when you read for examination?
o Do you interact with what you learn when you get home with your friends, families and colleagues?
o Can you memorize formula, principles, theories, and procedures for long?
o Do you have a working method of assimilating formula, principles, theories, and procedures?
o Do you see your dream career developing as you read?
These questions, if sincerely answered, will justify your strength for the career you wish to study and pursue in life. When a student has a personal and undiluted interest in reading and studying of his/her books without or less supervision of parents, guardians or teachers, such a child is not far from success. Academic performance takes the major step in choosing career. The mid-term tests and termly examinations in schools evaluate the academic capacity that commensurate a career you can do. Seek advice from your subjects and class teacher. Be frank about their evaluation. The remarks will help you to sit tight if you will still pursue the career.
